HAZRAT SHAIKH FARID-UD-DIN MASOOD GANJ-E-SHAKAR AJODHANI (R.A.) :

He (R.A.) has the most unique position in the field of Tareeqat. All Mashaikhs are unanimous in their acknowledgement of his high degree of love and devotion. All the practices, hardships, mujahidat, depravity and isolation in love and devotion leading to apparent and hidden heights and grandeurs which he (R.A.) has attained are not found elsewhere in Tareeqat for so much to have been bestowed upon an individual. He (R.A.) was brave and courageous with the blessings bestowed upon him as a result of his very strong love and devotion. In the training of his disciples (mureeds), he (R.A.) had the capacity to make them attain spiritual heights in a very short time. His (R.A.) most unique characteristic is that his love and devotion was so strong that right from the early times up to his very advanced stages, he (R.A.) continued with all his practices and exercises at all times. He (R.A.) had such a high degree of strength in his faith that never throughout his life did he (R.A.) ever ask for any worldly thing. Despite this, he (R.A.) would meet with people with such humbleness and treat them with such respect and dignity that everyone loved him dearly.

He (R.A.) was the most beloved mureed and khalifa of Khwajah Qutub-ul-Islam Hazrat Bakhtiar Aushi (R.A.) . According to Syed Mohammad Kirmani (R.A.), who is the author of Sair-ul-Aulia and was a mureed of Sultan-ul-Mashaikh Hazrat Khwajah Nizamuddin Aulia (R.A.), the lineage of Hazrat Ganjshakar (R.A.) comes from Farrukh Shah Adil. Farrukh Shah Adil was a king of Kabul and his kingdom was bigger than the Ghazni kingdom. When the Kabul kingdom became weak, the entire kingdom was joined with the Ghazni empire, but the descendants of Farrukh Shah remained in Kabul. At the time when Chenghez Khan invaded and marauded through Iran and then turned his attention towards the Ghazni Empire. he first attacked Kabul. This attack led to the martyrdom (shahdat) pf the great-grandfather of Hazrat Ganj Shakr (R.A.). After this, his grandfather Qazi Shoaib, came to Lahore with all his family. After staying there for a few days, he moved on to Kasur. The Qazi of Qasur greeted him warmly. entertained him as his honoured guest and informed the whole situation to the ruling king. The King appointed him the Qazi of Kothiwal, near Multan, and he became resident there. [Book Continues on from here]
